Nickerson Family Legacy Foundation

Our Mission:

Empowering underserved communities by providing essential resources in health, financial literacy, and education, while raising awareness of heart disease.

About NFLF:

NFLF was founded by Amon Nickerson to honor his parents, Eleanora Nickerson (a retired CPS principal) and Garland Nickerson (an entrepreneur), as well as his late brother, Ahmed “Meddie” Nickerson—a talented artist who passed away from heart complications.

NFLF strives to build a legacy of empowerment by:

  • Promoting healthy lifestyles through events like the Run 4 Meddie 5K, honoring Ahmed’s life and encouraging heart health.
  • Offering educational opportunities through scholarships for young leaders in Education, Entrepreneurship, and Arts.

Key Programs & Initiatives:

  1. Run 4 Meddie 5K Thanksgiving Walk/Run:
    • An annual event to honor Ahmed’s memory, raise heart health awareness, and fund scholarships for students at Crete-Monee High School.
  2. Empowerment for Life Program:
    • A year-round program providing:
      • Financial literacy education
      • Life skills workshops
      • Mental health support
      • Wellness initiatives
